Abstract:
Hard Disk Drives have been the primary bottleneck in the retrieval of data because of the mechanical latency in their architecture. Solid State Drives are integrated circuits that are capable of storing large data. They are shock resistant, light and they have less energy consumption relative to the HDDs. However, what makes them more attractive in the field of data management is that they don’t have any mechanical overhead and they provide fast random reads. This research aims to find out the performance issues of SSDs on multidimensional indexing techniques and in the light of these findings, it aims to optimize the indexing data structures for different types of queries.
