Abstract:

Malware has presented and will continue to present a major threat to many businesses and computer users globally. The main defence mechanism against malware is to detect it before it can be executed on the target system. Traditional approaches to malware detection such as signature based detection can be easily by-passed by cunning malware writers. To address this issue, many researchers have focused on this topic to come up with better ways of detecting malware. This presentation will review some of the previous literature on malware detection and discuss some related topics.
